MOSTAR, October 8 (FENA) - The situation in the returnee settlement of Ortiješ near Mostar is worrying because there are many returnees, and no work is being done on the rebuilding of their homes, said BiH Minister of Human Rights and Refugees Miloš Lučić during today's visit to this village.
On Thursday, the Minister met in the Community Center in Ortiješ with the president of the local people's assembly and the Chairman of the Council of Coordination of Serbs of Mostar, the head of the RS Office in Mostar, representatives of the SNSD and the SDS city committees and the Serbian Orthodox Church representatives to get acquainted with the situation in this village.
"I was told that in previous years there were blockades against Serb returnees who submitted requests for the renovation of their homes, and I will fight for their applications to be granted in the coming period to start renovating the houses and for them to a regular water supply. Through the projects that are currently active, I will try to ensure that returnee settlements after 25 years have at least basic living conditions," said Lučić.
He added that the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees issued a public call a few days ago related to infrastructure works in returnee settlements.
