SARAJEVO, October 13 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Staša Košarac visited the Port of Ploče in Croatia on Monday, where the Port's management presented him with storage and transport capacities for BiH entrepreneurs.
The potentials and services that the Port of Ploče can provide to export-oriented BiH companies were also discussed.
Speaking about the protection of domestic production, Minister Košarac pointed out the importance of opening new markets for the placement of domestic products, whereby cooperation with regional ports is of exceptional importance.
“Our commitment is to provide businessmen from BiH with variety, so that they can export their products using the capacities and services of regional ports, such as the Port of Ploče and the Port of Bar. That is why I asked the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH to submit a list of domestic economic entities from various industries that are interested in doing business with the Port of Ploče as soon as possible, so that we can define that cooperation in the coming period,” said Košarac.
He announced that he would discuss the same topic with Montenegrin officials, after the formation of a new government.
Since the formation of a free economic zone is planned in Trebinje, the advantages of locations exempt from customs and tax allocations were also discussed at yesterday's working meeting.
After the working meeting, a tour of the Port of Ploče was organized, during which the guests were introduced to the port infrastructure, capacities and services.
Košarac visited the port accompanied by the Mayor of Trebinje Mirko Ćurić and the President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH Vjekoslav Vuković, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH announced.
