SARAJEVO, October 16 (FENA) – Director of the BiH Border Police Zoran Galić and Bihać Mayor Šuhret Fazlić held a meeting on Thursday to discuss BiH Border Police activities in the Bihać border area.
Galić informed Fazlić about the current as well as planned measures and plans of the BiH Border Police in the context of the migrant crisis.
He also stressed that cooperation in the fight against illegal migration is key and expressed support for Bihać.
"I am pleased that we finally sat down to discuss the whole situation regarding the migrant crisis. I understand the citizens of Bihać and the burden that the Mayor of Bihać is dealing with, but unfortunately the Border Police is not able to deal with the migrant crisis itself, the state must react urgently. I would like to thank the Mayor of Bihać, Mr. Šuhret Fazlić, for giving us the space to explain how the Border Police operates, what capacities it has, what we cannot influence, etc. Krajina suffers a lot and we will continue to make every effort to prevent illegal border crossings," said Galić.
Mayor Fazlić also stressed the importance of cooperation.
"We agreed that in the coming period, through joint cooperation and coordination between the City of Bihać and the BiH Border Police, we will primarily achieve better exchange of information and data, and to continue previous activities to prevent illegal border crossings, with continuous measures to deter illegal migrants," said Mayor Fazlić.
The readiness of the BiH Border Police to further protect the BiH borders and prevent the illegal entry of migrants into BiH, which ultimately means decreased number of migrants in Bihać and the Una-Sana Canton, was emphasized in the next period, through strengthening human resources and equipment, BiH Border Police announced today.
