SARAJEVO, October 18 (FENA) - The cities of Sarajevo and Bursa have been twin cities for 41 years and there is great potential for further cooperation, the mayors of Sarajevo and Bursa, Abdulah Skaka and Alinur Aktaş, said on Saturday in Sarajevo.

A delegation of the Turkish City of Bursa, led by Mayor Alinur Aktaş, visited the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo.

Skaka pointed out that this is just a continuation of good cooperation between the cities of Sarajevo and Bursa, the states of BiH and Turkey, and the peoples of the two countries.

"The City of Bursa is one of the oldest twin cities of Sarajevo and is one of the largest donors when it comes to the renovation of old buildings in Sarajevo, and their biggest investment was in the Old Town, especially in Baščaršija.

The City of Sarajevo built the Sebilj in Bursa and we had a number of activities when it comes to the exchange of cultural programs and projects," noted Skaka.

He emphasized that the City of Sarajevo continues international activities and strengthening ties with twin cities with a focus on cities in Turkey, and among them is BUrsa as one of the most important and oldest twin cities.

Bursa Mayor Alinur Aktaş reminded that a protocol for future cooperation was signed in February, but that the pandemic slowed down the realization of plans.

The city of Bursa has more than three million inhabitants, significant industrial potential and export results. The automotive, textile and wood industries are especially developed.

"Our desire is to connect as many industrialists and business people as possible and form a business infrastructure for further cooperation," said Aktaş.
