An Afghan national indicted for smuggling migrants from Serbia to BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 18 (FENA) - An indictment has been filed against an Afghan national for smuggling migrants from Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

The accused Anil Ahmad, an Afghan citizen, born in 1999 in Logar, Afghanistan, has been detained in custody.

The indictment charges him with smuggling ten illegal migrants from Afghanistan, including a minor, across the Drina River in order to obtain illicit proceeds, in violation of Article 6 of the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, supplementing the UN Convention against transnational and organized crime.

The indictment alleges that Anil Ahmad, near a village of Ročević, Zvornik municipality, in collusion with persons known to him, picked up migrants on the Serbian side of the border on September 5, and transported them by boat to BiH, where they were discovered by the BiH Border Police officers.
