SARAJEVO, October 19 (FENA) - Deputy Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Josip Brkić met today in Sarajevo with officials from the European External Action Service (EEAS) - Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs Enrique Mora and Deputy Correspondent for Europe Francesco Morini.
Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, also attended the meeting, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Brkić expressed gratitude for the support and assistance of EU institutions and member states to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens in this challenging time. He stressed that assistance intended to resolve the health crisis and reduce the severe economic and social consequences of the coronavirus pandemic was of great importance.
BiH is implementing the activities and procedures necessary to meet the requirements of the European Commission from the Opinion, this year's report, and two economic documents.
He stressed that the professional and financial assistance of the European Union in the integration process is of great importance for further progress on Bosnia and Herzegovina on the EU path. He stressed the importance of continuing to work together on human and infrastructural connectivity, economic development, the rule of law, combating corruption, fighting terrorism, extremism, radicalization and organized crime, as well as preventing illegal migration.
He expressed confidence that the Western Balkans is a strategic goal of the European Union and that support and assistance to the region would continue.
As for the economic and investment plan for the Western Balkans, he thanked for including the priority projects reported by BiH.
The meeting with EEAS officials took place ahead of tomorrow's meeting of the political directors of the European Union and the Western Balkans (EU-WB6), hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister Josip Brkić.
