SARAJEVO, October 22 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted and will send to the Presidency of BiH the Information of the Ministry of Security on the situation in the field of migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina for July 2020, when there were 2,361 illegal migrants registered in the country, which is 52 percent more than in June this year, but also 43 percent less than in the same month in 2019.
Citizens of Bangladesh (940) are the most numerous among illegal migrants reported to the Foreigners' Affairs Service in July 2020, and their number increased by 269 percent compared to the previous month. They are followed by illegal migrants from Afghanistan (544), Pakistan (428), Morocco (116) and Iran (91).
The misuse of the asylum system continued in July, because of the 2,307 people who expressed an intention to apply for asylum, only 10 or 0.4 percent of them applied, and most of them were Moroccan citizens.
In the first seven months of 2020, a total of 9,002 illegal migrants were registered, which is a decrease of 59.2 percent compared to the same period in 2019, when 15,193 illegal migrants were registered.
The largest numbers of illegal migrants in this period were citizens of Afghanistan (2,299 or 25.5 percent), Pakistan (2,195 or 24.4 percent), Bangladesh (1,340 or 14.9 percent), Morocco (1,107 or 12.3 percent) and Iraq. (455 or 5.1 percent), stated the BiH Council of Ministers.
