MOSTAR, October 22 (FENA) - "Ćiro - world cultural heritage trail" project was presented on Thursday in Mostar, and will promote cultural and outdoor tourism along the old railway line connecting Stolac, Ravno, Čapljina and Mostar.
The aim of the project is to increase the number of visitors and improve the local economy, by creating and linking content and offerings along the bike lane. The project lasts 18 months, and the total value is 377,395 EUR, of which 301,820 EUR is co-financed by the European Union within the EU4Business.
Acting Director of REDAH Ivica Sivrić told reporters that together with partners they have created a project that will improve the environment related to the tourism sector by connecting something that already exists in Herzegovina - the Ćiro bike lane, which is already promoted and is a cultural heritage that we have.
“The aim of the project is to improve the environment in two ways - to obtain new information through certain documents on how we will manage such different activities and who could manage. This includes the development of a marketing strategy for certain visual identities as a prerequisite for the future. It is planned to collect the contents and to map additional bike lanes in order to connect Stolac, which as a territory is not directly on Ćiro's lane, with it,” Sivrić explained.
Referring to the Covid-19 pandemic, which particularly affected the tourism sector, Sivrić said the Ćiro project is contributing to the revitalization of tourism.
EU4Business, with the aim of strengthening the BiH economy, encourages entrepreneurship, export-oriented companies, tourism and agriculture, as well as rural development. EU4Business is worth EUR 16.1 million and is jointly funded by the European Union (EUR 15 million) and the Federal Republic of Germany (EUR 1.1 million). GIZ, ILO and UNDP jointly implement EU4Business in the period from April 2018 to March 2022.
