Bilateral consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of BiH and Croatia

SARAJEVO, October 22 (FENA) - Deputy Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Josip Brkić and State Secretary for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Andreja Metelko-Zgombić led delegations of the two ministries at bilateral consultations held in Sarajevo today.

Brkić thanked the Government of the Republic of Croatia for the help in the form of donations to health institutions in BiH in the amount of about 43 million HRK.

Speaking about BiH's European path, the Deputy Minister emphasized the great help and support that BiH receives from neighboring Croatia, "because it knows and understands the situation in our country and region best of all European countries."

He pointed out that it is important for BiH to remain in the focus of the EU, emphasizing that the European future of our country has no alternative.

During the consultations, a high degree of agreement was expressed in the assessment that the development of good neighborly relations and cooperation is of priority importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, and that bilateral relations are good and friendly, and that they are constantly developing and improving.

Regarding the situation with deforestation near the state border of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, near Plješevica, the Croatian side expressed assurances that it was a matter of clearing a forest that is absolutely on the territory of the Republic of Croatia and that no dispute should have arisen in this situation.

The issue of radioactive waste disposal at the site of Trgovska Gora was also discussed and the Deputy Minister emphasized that the most important for BiH is to find a solution in joint constructive dialogue and in accordance with the provisions of the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention). 

The officials also discussed the migrant crisis, contractual regulation of relations, joint infrastructure projects, the situation in the region and other foreign policy topics, the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced.
