Tegeltija and Kammer discuss the continuation of BiH's cooperation with IMF

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 23 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Zoran Tegeltija talked today via video link with Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Europe, Alfred Kammer.

They discussed the current pandemic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the consequences for the administrative, health and economic system of the country.

Chairman Tegeltija pointed out that the current situation requires the full engagement of institutions at all levels of government, as well as the population, in order to stop the spread of the virus and prevent unwanted escalation. He added that no one wants a new closure, which would be disastrous for the economy, and appealed to the population to adhere to the measures of the competent crisis headquarters.

Tegeltija expressed BiH's interest in continuing co-operation with the IMF by opening a negotiation process on a new arrangement. He said a new arrangement with the financial institution would help overcome the economic and social crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Governor of the Central Bank of BiH Senad Softić attended the meeting, the Council of Ministers of BiH announced.
