Entity Chambers of Commerce prepare proposal for a new Law on public procurement

FENA Press release

BIJELJINA, October 28 (FENA) - The Chambers of Commerce of the Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have prepared a proposal for a new Law on public procurement.

For the first time, the two institutions that bring together and represent the interests of the economy will jointly offer the Council of Ministers of BiH a solution to the enforceable and applicable Law on public procurement.

For the past 15 days, representatives of the expert teams of the Chambers of Commerce of both entities, together with experts from the country and the region, worked on the new Public Procurement Law, and proposals for new principles of the Law will be presented to the public next week.

President of the Banja Luka Chamber of Commerce, Goran Račić, said that a comprehensive legal solution was offered and that it contained long-standing requests from businessmen to create a workable and applicable Law on public procurement, which would reduce numerous speculations, abuses, complicated procedures and other shortcomings.

He stated that the bill respects a larger number of European standards and principles than before.

“I think that the Business Forum of Managers deserves such important information, because this is a long-term interest of both the economy and public institutions,” Račić pointed out.
