MOSTAR, October 29 (FENA) - President of the Croat National Assembly (HNS) BiH and the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) BiH Čović said after a meeting of the HNS and HDZ BiH Presidencies in Mostar today that parties gathered around HNS will have absolute success in the local elections on November 15.
“We have expressed our satisfaction, regardless of the behavior of the Central Election Commission, which is often questionable in terms of legality and procedures, that the parties gathered around the HNS will have absolute success in accordance with plans,” Čović told reporters.
Also, as a representative of HDZ, he is of the opinion that the party will get all town and municipal mayors in BiH, where the Croat people are majority, as well as the majority in city and municipal councils.
The leader of the HDZ and HNS said that after the local election campaign, he would dedicate himself to the BiH Election Law.
He said nothing in the country could be resolved until all political representatives agree on key issues as well as the implementation of 14 EU recommendations in order for the country to get candidate status.
“As soon as the local elections are over, we will have talks, possibly with the same people (representatives of the international community, SDA, HDZ) and we have to finish the story in the Parliament on the Election Law in the first six months of next year, and what I wanted to emphasize to colleagues of international institutions is that this must be a prerequisite for the candidate status of BiH,” said Čović.
