SARAJEVO, October 29 (FENA) - General Hospital 'Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš' demanded that the order of the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health be respected, according to which all hospitals in the Federation of BiH must make available 30 percent of their capacities to patients with Covid-19.
Infectious disease specialist at the Sarajevo General Hospital, Ednan Drljević, explained at a press conference that this medical institution has established an infectious diseases ward, which has been turned into a Covid hospital for the treatment of mild to moderate covid patients. In three days, the capacity of 30 beds has been filled. He says that they are working every day on setting up an additional isolation ward within that hospital.
As he explains, with this order of the Crisis Staff, all health care institutions must have 30 percent of beds ready for patients suffering from Covid infection 'but this has to be inside covid hospitals'.
"That means that 450 to 500 beds should be in the Clinical Center, in our clinic, 102 beds, but for light and medium-heavy condition patients. Both hospitals must have thirty percent capacity secured for Covid hospital - both the KCUS and General Hospital 'Prim.dr. Abdullah Nakas'.
This means that 'Podhrastovi' Clinic must be in charge only of severe cases, and there are three percent of them. That way, all patients will have adequate care," he emphasized.
In that hospital, patients with other diseases are adequately cared for. As he pointed out, they do the same for all patients in the Sarajevo Canton, those positive and negative for coronavirus. However, he announced intensified measures for testing and examination of health workers, and measures for entering the hospital building will be intensified. According to the institution, about 40 medical and non-medical staff infected with the coronavirus were registered this month.
