SDA to HNS: ‘The Jokers’ also labeled themselves as an 'anti-terrorist unit'

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 2 (FENA) - The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) believes the statement of the Croat People's Assembly (HNS) with regards to terrorist attacks in France is an insidious attempt to transfer ideological tensions and security problems from France to Bosnia and Herzegovina and use them against the Bosniak people.

"In connection with the cynical attempt of the HNS to reinterpret the war in BiH as a fight against "Islamic terrorism and extremism", we remind you of the facts established by the Hague Tribunal verdicts that e.g., immediately before the massacre in Ahmići, messages arrived from the local HDZ about the need to fight "Islamic fundamentalists", and that the Croat military unit, known as 'the Jokers', as a criminal unit that carried out the massacre of 116 civilians in Ahmići, were officially defined as an "anti-terrorist unit", underlined the SDA in its statement.

It is added that the Hague Tribunal verdicts (to the Six, in the cases of Kordić, Blaškić, etc.), which are well known to the French public, describe in detail how the HDZ and the HVO tried to present the massacre of 116 civilians, including the killing of newborns and women, as "fighting the terrorists ", using identical "anti-terrorist rhetoric", such as the one used in the media in July 1995, by Radivoje Miletić, Milan Gvero, Zdravko Tolimir and others, while at the same time organizing mass executions of civilians.

"It is obvious that today, just like in 1993, the HNS wants to present Bosniaks as terrorists and people who have no place in Europe. It is a hypocritical message of a policy that does not renounce the legacy of war rime and whose goal is not peace and cooperation among the peoples.

Instead of declaring itself the "protectors and bearers of European values", this policy should show its Europeanness by accepting the judgments of the Hague Tribunal which refer to "the attempt to create a Croat-only entity on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina", followed by a series of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights affirming the equality of citizens in the election process, including the verdict on the Sejdić-Finci appeal," it is saidin the statement of the SDA.
