ISLAMABAD, November 4 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotić and Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ijaz Ahmed Shah signed a Readmission Agreement and the accompanying Protocol in Islamabad today, which will enable the return of illegal migrants from BiH to Pakistan, writes FENA's reporter from Islamabad.
In an interview with FENA, Cikotić said that the Agreement was signed in a short period of time, although the procedure began in 2011 not much has been done so far and the work on it was reactivated a little over two months ago. It allows migrants to return to Pakistan in an organized way.
What is important, Cikotić added, is that the intention has been expressed to discuss the definition of the status of economic migrants with the European Union or first with Germany and some other countries.
He explained that Pakistan is the second country in the world in terms of age structure and has a large number of young educated people who cannot find adequate jobs in Pakistan and BiH could be one of the key transit countries for migrants from their countries of origin to countries of Western Europe.
In this way, the status of economic migration could be added to the issue of illegal migration and a kind of order would be introduced, and those who are not part of that category would return to Pakistan more easily with the institution of voluntary return, which would relieve BiH of illegal migration.
If that happens, Cikotić emphasizes, then this issue would be resolved in this way with other countries from which migrants come.
“Thus, the security and humanitarian issues of their stay in BiH, and above all from the point of view of the interests of BiH and its citizens, would be resolved in such a way,” concluded the Minister of Security of BiH Selmo Cikotić in an interview with FENA.
