Calavera: We want to help young people in WB region to overcome challenges

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 18 (FENA) - "#EUiTI - Your Story, Our Future", is the first integrated campaign developed within the European Union's (EU) Regional Communication Program for the Western Balkans.

The campaign, which aims to promote the opportunities and benefits provided by EU programs available to young people in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, will be presented at an online event.

The campaign covers the areas of education, training and sports (ERASMUS+), entrepreneurship (COSME - Competitiveness, small and medium enterprises), culture and creativity (Creative Europe) and research and innovation (HORIZON 2020).

It is designed to encourage greater participation in these programs by displaying success stories, results, and benefits.

Speakers at the opening of the event are Genoveva Ruiz Calavera, European Commission Director for the Western Balkans, Luigi Soreca, EU Ambassador to Albania and Johann Sattler, EU Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event will also feature six young people who will share their experiences from participating in EU programs.

The final session will have a Q&A format with six young European ambassadors from the Western Balkans chosen earlier in the year.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ruiz Calavera said young people across the Western Balkans face many challenges, not just high unemployment and a lack of job opportunities.

"That is why we are promoting this campaign. We want to raise awareness of the opportunities that the EU offers in the region that can help them overcome these challenges, acquire new skills and contribute to the positive growth of their region," added Calavera.

"#EUiTI - Your Story, Our Future" is the first of three regional campaigns to be implemented by the European Commission over three years.

It features an attractive multimedia display of content, including testimonies from program participants, as well as animated videos about each of the four EU programs.

TV and radio advertising, web and social activities started on November 16 and will last for one month.

The launch of the campaign coincides with the launch of www.webalkans.eu web portal.

This new web portal is designed to offer a customized experience and serves as a one-stop-shop for stories, news, funding opportunities and related information on EU-Western Balkans cooperation.

The EU's regional communication program for the Western Balkans was launched in January 2020, and will run for three years. The aim is to inform different target audiences about EU values, policies and programs.

The program consists of three integrated components - three integrated communication campaigns for the entire region, the online portal WeBalkans.eu, and a network of young European ambassadors.
