Čović and Ghelickhan: Relations between BiH and Iran are good

SARAJEVO, November 24 (FENA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Dragan Čović received Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Gholamreza Alimohammad Ghelichkhan.

The interlocutors assessed the relations between the two countries as good, at the same time emphasizing the possibility for further strengthening of economic cooperation. They also commented on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the situation with the coronavirus.

Čović informed the ambassador about the political situation regarding the local elections and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Agreement, emphasizing the importance of a stable political dialogue for the overall progress of BiH society. He especially emphasized the amendments to the Election Law which will fully protect the equality of the constituent peoples of BiH.

In connection with Euro-Atlantic integration, the current and forthcoming steps were discussed. Čović stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina's membership in the European Union and NATO is a primary foreign policy goal that requires new developments and dialogue between legitimate officials.

Finally, the commitment to further development of bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Islamic Republic of Iran was unanimously emphasized.
