MOSTAR, December 1 (FENA) - SNSD President Milorad Dodik said it was important that the upcoming elections for the Mostar City Council be upheld to fair and honest principles, and invited Mostar Serbs to go to the polls and cast their votes for party members who are "authentic representatives of the Serb people".
“SNSD has made a joint list here together with other political factors of the Serb people and we have the ambition to be visible in the Mostar City Council,” Dodik told reporters in Mostar on Tuesday after a meeting with HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović and party delegations.
“This is an opportunity for them to vote and to have visible representatives in the City Council, to talk on that basis with partners in the City Council about participation and inclusion in the decision-making system in the City of Mostar,” said Dodik.
He assessed the cooperation between SNSD and HDZ BiH as successful, while denying that "this is an alliance against something", emphasizing that he would hold talks with all other relevant political interlocutors.
The host of today's meeting, Dragan Čović, said that in addition to the upcoming local elections in Mostar, all other current issues in BiH were also discussed at the meeting.
“I informed Dodik about the things we are working on, we briefly went through the results of the local elections and we expressed one of our levels of satisfaction. I briefly informed him about the ambitions of the HDZ BiH in the City of Mostar, what we intend to do until the elections so that everything goes well and, of course, about the ambitions of the HDZ to have its own mayor,” said Čović.
Asked what they expect from today's session of the Peace Implementation Council in Sarajevo, the SNSD president said that for the first time he heard that the session was being held today, while the HDZ leader reiterated that the time had come to transform the Office of the High Representative.
