SARAJEVO, December 2 (FENA) - An online meeting of the Western Balkans platforms on education and training, research, and innovation was organized today by the European Commission at the invitation of the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel.
The meeting of the platforms focused on the development of the Western Balkans Agenda on Innovation, Research, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, as a long-term strategy of the European Commission for cooperation within the region that would contribute to the economic and social development of the Western Balkans.
The Agenda prioritizes activities in three key areas: political, regional, and thematic for all areas of action.
In a video address to the participants of the meeting, the Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ankica Gudeljević pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina are seriously and intensively implementing activities aimed at establishing essential elements of the European dimension in the field of education, training, and research.
“Our vision is to reach European standards and criteria, and to continue regional and international cooperation and participation in European Union programs,” said Minister Gudeljević, noting that the priorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in these areas are aligned with the priorities outlined in the document Program for innovation, research, education, culture, youth and sport of the European Commission for the countries of the Western Balkans.
She stressed that she strongly supports the European Commission's comprehensive, long-term strategy for co-operation with the Western Balkans, with the hope that everyone will work together to implement it.
