SARAJEVO, December 4 (FENA) - The handover of the post of Commander of the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo between the current commander, Brigadier General William Edwards and the incoming Brigadier General Eric Folkestad, took place today in Sarajevo.
Folkestad comes from the duty of Deputy Commander of the US Army for Africa and the Battle Group for Southern Europe.
In his address, Edwards pointed out that the AF BiH has a significant lack of resources as a result of the lack of cooperation in recent years.
“When officers stay in cold premises during winter without heating, and soldiers live in barracks also freezing without heating, then you have to wonder how defense reforms can be implemented in such an environment,” Edwards added.
Folkestad said people in BiH should be proud of the progress made in the 25 years since the Dayton Peace Agreement.
"Together, we can continue to build on the decades of progress, security and prosperity that BiH's partnership with NATO brings," said Folkestad.
The US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson thanked Edwards for his commitment and the achieved results, and welcomed Folkestad to the team.
The Allied Force Commander in Naples, Admiral Robert Burke said Edwards' strategic perspective, diplomatic sharpness and visionary leadership have led to better preparedness and better use of resources, with Folkestad bringing vast experience and operational perspective.
