Germany supports public utility companies in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, December 9 (FENA) - As a form of support in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, on behalf of the German government, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH handed over the second part of protective equipment and disinfectants to 11 selected public utilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The total value of the package is 50 thousand euros, with the aim of achieving high hygiene standards in the protection of employees, jobs, and public areas.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Margret Webber, stated that municipalities and cities, as well as public utility companies, are under pressure more than ever to provide adequate services while maintaining high hygiene standards.

"I look forward to our countries working together to provide effective support in this area," Webber said.

It is a regional initiative within the framework of German development cooperation, and the total value of support to public utility companies in combating the COVID-19 pandemic for all six countries of the Western Balkans is 400,000 euros.

The equipment was delivered by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the Open Regional Fund for Southeast Europe - Modernization of Municipal Services, the statement said.
