FENA

TUZLA, December 10 (FENA) - Medical equipment worth around 164,000 KM, donated by the European Union, was delivered to the University Clinical Center Tuzla and the Institute of Public Health of the Tuzla Canton today.

The donated equipment is part of the total EU medical aid for BiH in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, worth seven million euros, which has been delivered to health care institutions in BiH since March 2020.

Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Vahid Jusufović, told reporters that this was a significant donation from the EU and that UCC Tuzla received a modern device for PCR testing and a significant amount of protective medical equipment.

"We will expand testing capacities, we will have the opportunity to open a second line for PCR testing, we have created reserves," said Jusufović, emphasizing the importance of the arrived protective medical equipment due to the increased number of hospitalized in this health institution.

The number of hospitalized patients infected with COVID 19 in the University Medical Center Tuzla ranges from 150 to 170 with a tendency towards a slight increase, and the number of deaths is also increasing, according to Jusufović.

The mentioned medical equipment was procured in accordance with EU standards for public procurement through a project implemented by UNDP BiH.
