Session of HJPC BiH starts tomorrow, Tegeltija's resignation in the focus

SARAJEVO, December 14 (FENA) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) has scheduled a two-day session for December 15 and 16, at which the president of that regulatory body, Milan Tegeltija, should officially resign.

Tegeltija's address on that matter is planned for the beginning of the two-day session, it was confirmed to FENA from the HJPC BiH.

He announced his decision to resign, which he made in accordance with one of the conclusions of the extraordinary session of the HJPC from December 3, at a press conference in Banja Luka on December 10.

Tegeltija was appointed a member of the HJPC BiH, and then its president, in 2014 from the position of the president of the Basic Court in Banja Luka, while his second four-year term at the head of that institution is currently running.

According to the proposed agenda, the session should begin with the filling of vacant positions in the Presidency of the HJPC BiH.

It is also planned that the members of the Council consider the preparation of the HJPC annex for the Discussion Document for the fifth meeting of the Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina announced for 17 and 18 December.

The session will also focus on the Conclusions of the Ad Hoc Inquiry Commission with regard to the OSCE Report on the Judicial Response to Corruption, as well as the conclusions of the relevant standing committees of the HJPC BiH on the Report of Judge Joanna Korner titled “Improving the processing of war crimes cases at the state level in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” and Amendments to the Instructions for the Development of Plans for Resolving War Crimes Cases in Prosecutor's Offices in BiH.

The agenda of the session also includes the Proposal of the work program of the HJPC BiH for 2020, and the Proposal of the structure and content of the annual report of the HJPC for 2020, as well as the Framework Plan for holding sessions of the HJPC BiH for 2021.

On the second day of the session, the appointments of judicial office holders should follow, including the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and the FBiH Chief Prosecutor and the President of the Supreme Court of the Federation of BiH.
