SARAJEVO, December 15 (FENA) - The European Movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EP in BiH) today presented awards to collectives and individuals on the occasion of marking the 10th anniversary of the introduction of a visa-free regime for BiH citizens to travel to the EU.

The president of the European Movement in BiH, Predrag Praštalo, stated that the organization organized a symbolic trip 10 years ago for 50 BiH citizens to the EU without visas, for which more than 25,000 citizens applied at the time.

"BiH does not have many common anniversaries that it celebrates, and this is one of the dates around which there is a consensus and I think that there is no citizen of BiH who does not support it," said Praštalo.

The EU Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi said in a video link that the visa liberalization process has shown that political leaders with a clear goal, that all citizens strongly support, are able to act quickly and effectively to achieve that goal.

"This has shown that BiH is able to deliver and that is exactly what the EU now expects from BiH," Varhelyi added.

A member of the European Parliament Tanja Fajon also addressed the attendees via video link, pointing out that she was proud and happy that 10 years ago they managed to abolish the visa regime for the people of BiH, which is entering a new era of closer relations with other nations.
