BELGRADE, December 15 (FENA) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in Belgrade on Tuesday that representatives of Croats and Bosniaks in the BiH presidency, who refused to meet with him yesterday, were not independent and were apparently working on someone's orders.
He said that "the incident is not relevant to Russia's position on the development of relations with the peoples of BiH."
"The politicians who made that decision are unlikely to express the interests of the majority of their constituents but of external forces that are not only not interested in developing Russian-Bosnian and Russian-Serbian relations, but also in exercising the right of mutually beneficial cooperation with all external partners ", Lavrov said last night at a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Hina reports.
He pointed out that this "incident is not important for Russia's position on the development of relations with the peoples of BiH."
BiH Presidency members Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović refused to meet with Lavrov on Tuesday after his statement called into question BiH's possible NATO membership and called for the immediate closure of the Office of the High Representative of the International Community (OHR), accusing him of disrespecting the sovereignty of BiH as a state and that it is consciously trying to question its strategic commitments.
