SARAJEVO, December 17 (FENA) - Minister of Human Rights and Refugees in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milos Lučić participated today in the opening of USAID's INSPIRE Program, which aims to support and protect the human rights of marginalized groups and the rights and refugees in BiH.
Lučić pointed out that in the development of human rights of LGBT people in BiH, he welcomes the efforts of USAID partners in this area and that support and assistance will be needed in the coming period to achieve the goals of the action plan for LGBT equality.
The Ministry, through the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH and with the support of the Council of Europe, initiated and coordinated the process of drafting the action plan and the work of the Working Group for drafting the action plan composed of relevant representatives of institutions from the entity and BiH levels, as well as civil society organizations.
Minister Lučić informed the participants of the online meeting that the work on the text of the action plan is in the final phase and that it should be sent to the Government of Republika Srpska, the Government of the Federation of BiH and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina for adoption very soon.
Any direct or indirect discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity should be eliminated, homophobia and transphobia in society should be reduced, and the quality of life of the LGBT population in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be improved.
Minister Lučić emphasized that he is firmly determined to contribute to the improvement of the position of all vulnerable groups of the population and that he will continue to work on supporting and improving the protection of their rights.
