BIHAĆ, December 24 (FENA) - The Red Cross of the City of Bihać and the Una-Sana Canton (USC) provided daily meals and drinking water for about a thousand migrants and refugees, who remained at the location of the reception camp at "Lipa".

After yesterday's incidents, today the situation is much calmer and completely under the control of the strong police forces. The Specialist Support Unit of the Ministry of the Interior of the USC was also engaged in the camp itself.

"The city and cantonal organization of the Red Cross, in cooperation with the USC Migrant Situation Task Force, provided daily meals and drinking water to all people who remained at this location. Of course, we will provide these people with necessities for a while, and we hope that the best solution for their accommodation would be found very soon. The Red Cross has been involved in the situation with migrants and refugees from the beginning, and we take care of all people who need help," said Selam Midžić from the Bihać Red Cross.

About a thousand migrants who were left without a temporary roof over their heads after yesterday's fire in four residential tents are still hoping for a solution.

"We don't know what is going on, or what will happen to us. We're running out of money and basic necessities. We're staying here because we have nowhere else to go and we're hoping for a solution to the problem," said Mesud from Afghanistan.

The traffic on the main road M-5 towards Bihać is running smoothly, considering that the members of the MoI of the USC stopped a group of several hundred migrants, who were heading towards Bihać, last night.

All of them were returned to the camp, which the employees of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) left yesterday due to the camp's inadequacy to function in winter conditions.

According to unofficial information, equipment and containers are expected to be moved out of the Migration Center "Bira" in the city center in the near future and its final closure, which is what the citizens of Bihać, the city and cantonal authorities insist on.
