SARAJEVO, January 3 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina at its 41st extraordinary telephone session yesterday passed a Decision declaring January 2, 2021, a Day of Mourning in Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the tragic death of eight young people from Posušje municipality as a result of suffocation by gas.
This decision was adopted unanimously.
Also, the Government of the Federation of BiH declared January 4 as the Day of Mourning in this BiH entity.
Numerous officials, both domestic and foreign, expressed their condolences because of the tragic deaths of these young people.
The funeral of Mirela Rezo, a girl who died tragically in Tribistovo near Posušje, was held today at the Martić Križ cemetery, in the presence of family, relatives, and many friends and fellow citizens.
Mirela Rezo (2001) was a freshman at the Faculty of Science in Split, where she studied biology.
She tragically died along with seven other friends on New Year's Eve at a cottage in Tribistovo. It is assumed that the cause of death was suffocation by gas.
Stjepan Jukić (2001), who studied at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Education, University of Mostar, also died in the accident.
He was also buried today at Martić Križ Cemetery at 2 p.m.
The funerals for Ivan Miličević, Stipe Romić, Žana Pavković, Mija Soldo, Stipe Pavković and Marija Pavković will be held on Monday, January 4 in Rakitno near Posušje.
The rites will begin at 12 p.m. in front of the church of St. John the Baptist in Rakitno, and will be led by the Bishop of Mostar and Duvanj Petar Palić.
A commemoration will be held on the same day for the young men and women.
