ZENICA, January 3 (FENA) - Industrial production for the first nine months of last year in Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC) was 1.2 percent lower than in 2019, while in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the same period the reduction was 7.7 percent, the president of the ZDC Chamber of Commerce Diana Babić told FENA.
He notes that a report will be made for the last quarter of last year, but adds that there is an evident recovery after the reduction of economic activities caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“In September, compared to the average monthly production from 2019, in the area of our canton, industrial production amounted to 104.8 or 4.8 percent more. The recovery of industrial production in September was also recorded in the FBiH and amounted to 99.7, which means that, nevertheless, it was 0.3 percent lower than in September 2019,” Babić points out.
The number of employees, 81,034 at the end of July and 81,424 at the end of September, also shows positive trends. At the end of September, the number of unemployed was 57,108 or 3.5 percent, or 1,933 people more than in the same month in 2019.
“In September 2020, the average net salary was 824 KM or 1.9 percent more than in August, which is 137 KM or 14.3 percent less than the average of FBiH, which in September last year amounted to 961 KM,” notes Babić.
He adds that the FBiH imported 8.6 billion or 1.9 billion KM, or 18.4 percent less goods than in the first nine months of 2019. The coverage of imports by exports in the FBiH was 58.7 percent, which is an increase of 5.3 percent compared to the first nine months of 2019.
“BiH, as a state, realized foreign trade in the amount of 20.4 billion, of which exports amounted to 7.8 billion, and imports 12.6 billion KM. The coverage of imports by BiH exports was 62.1 percent.
This means that ZDK, in the total export of FBiH, participated with 22.4 percent, and the state of BiH with 14.5 percent,” Babić points out in an interview for FENA.
