A better coordination system needed among those in charge of migration process

BIHAĆ, January 14 (FENA) - Members of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina expect the establishment of an effective system of coordination of competent and security services, as well as harmonization of the activities of control of migrants in our country as the first conclusion from today's emergency session of the Security Committee of the FBiH Parliament held in Bihać.

"We also demand from all police agencies, within their competencies, to intensify activities on establishing the identity of migrants they find on the territory of their jurisdiction. We are asking the European Commission, i.e. international organizations, to finally make the containers from 'Bira' available to the competent institutions in BiH," said the President of the Committee Damir Mašić, presenting the conclusions from the session.

It is also necessary to change the legislation, considering that, as he stated, the existing one is not adequate for the situation and problems we are facing.

Deputies in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH also requested the urgent provision of additional accommodation capacities for migrants and refugees on the entire state territory, including the entity of Republika Srpska.

It was emphasized that it is inadmissible that the burden of the migrant crisis is borne only by the Federation of BiH, the Una-Sana, Sarajevo and Tuzla cantons.

They underlined the lack of coordination in the activities and actions of the competent institutions and agencies, as well as the problem with the technical and material equipment of police agencies, and insufficient informing of the public about the complete situation.

"Today we have clearly seen the lack of a system of coordination in action, and I was especially concerned about the lack of information and knowledge of some representatives of the relevant services. Certain persons from the BiH Border Police do not know about the Readmission Agreement with the Republic of Serbia from 2013. We have simply asked for a much more serious engagement and approach in solving the already accumulated problems," said a member of the FBiH Parliament and a member of the Security Committee Sanela Prašović Gadžo.
