Komšić: Unseemly attacks on BiH media due to reporting on Dodik-Russia affair

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 17 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić believes that the attacks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on the Bosnian media, due to reporting on the affair of controversial Orthodox relic that Milorad Dodik gave to Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, are utterly inappropriate, stated the Presidency of BiH.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, by attacking the integrity of the BiH media that reported on the Orthodox relic affair, is sending a worrying and inappropriate message that is not in the spirit of democratic standards and respect for media freedoms. The Bosnian media have the right to write and investigate a case that has intrigued the public arena worldwide," it is said in the statement.

Komšić also points out that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a democratic state that will not deny media freedoms in any case, especially not because political officials do not like particular media coverage.
