SARAJEVO, February 3 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Staša Košarac said today that BiH could soon start exporting beef, lamb, and goat meat to Malaysia because the key conditions have been met.
"If the epidemiological conditions allow, the competent Malaysian inspectors will come to BiH at the end of February and visit the facilities that have been named for export, in order to perform controls. This is the final step in the process of approving the export of beef, lamb, and goat meat to the Malaysian market," Košarac pointed out.
He reminded that BiH and Malaysia had previously bilaterally harmonized international veterinary and health certificates and that the Malaysian side submitted additional questions to the nominated export facilities from BiH, after which the arrival of Malaysian inspectors and approval of meat exports is expected.
"In the past period, we have rapidly worked on activities necessary for the export of meat to Malaysia because we appreciate that the opening of new markets is one of the important measures to protect domestic production. The goal is to define the Malaysian market as a new market for meat producers and processors from the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, in order to enable them to continue doing business and contribute to reducing potential market surpluses," said Košarac, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations said.
