SARAJEVO, February 3 (FENA) - Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina Josip Grubeša labeled as a populist move the request for his dismissal from duty by the Ad Hoc Inquiry Commission of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly on the situation in the BiH judicial institutions.
"It is ungrateful to talk about your own work, especially when all politicians and those involved in politics are characterized negatively. Each time, I was on the side of the judiciary and asked all interested institutions and individuals to improve, as much as possible, the functioning of the judiciary in BiH," he added.
He pointed out that he understood the Inquiry Commission in that way, and since they sent him a request to attend the session, he replied that he was not able to do so for justified reasons.
When asked by journalists about the need to adopt a new law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), which is one of the priorities expressed in the Opinion of the European Commission, the Minister explained that its drafting is in the final stage and whar remains is the opinion of the Venice Commission before it can be referred in the parliamentary procedure.
At today's session of the Council of Ministers of BiH was supposed to discuss the Proposal of the Decision on the Establishment of the Supervisory Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the Revised State Strategy for Work on War Crimes Cases but that was postponed, says Grubeša.
As he explained, the ethnic composition of the alternate members of the Supervisory Body coming from different institutions was not harmonized and a request was made to submit the names of new members, expressing the expectation that this issue would be resolved at the next session of the Council of Ministers.
In September last year, after two years of failure to adopt it, a Revised Strategy was adopted with Annex B specifying matters relating to A-list cases, the Road Map, regional cooperation, working methods and the composition of the Supervisory Body.
