SARAJEVO, February 4 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Staša Košarac talked today in Sarajevo with Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to BiH Richard Masa about cooperation and current economic issues.
The interlocutors stated that neither the EU Delegation to BiH nor the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH have official acts and information that the export of chicken meat and eggs for processing in the EU will be suspended.
“In this regard, I reject the speculations that have appeared in the public recently regarding the ban on exports from BiH to the EU. Our primary goal is to enable foreign trade of products from the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, whereby the EU market is of key importance,” Minister Košarac pointed out.
The officials discussed the need to meet the conditions related to interlaboratory testing, which are performed by reference laboratories in BiH. They also emphasized that this process must be performed in accordance with the prescribed standards.
The topic of discussion was also the Proposal of the Decision on special protective measures for the import of certain products originating from the EU member states.
Minister Košarac said that he had forwarded this decision to the BiH Council of Ministers for consideration based on the requests of the competent institutions.
“I will personally vote for the decision and I am convinced that the Council of Ministers of BiH will adopt it since the protection of domestic production is our primary policy,” said Košarac.
They also discussed the need for EU response regarding the possibility of exporting red meat and table eggs from BiH to the European market, and the export of livestock meat previously imported to BiH from the EU, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations said.
