BRČKO, February 11 (FENA) - French Ambassador to BiH Christine Toudic visited the "Ekmečić House" Endowment in Brčko today. The ties of the Ekmečić and Morić families that founded the Ekmečić Endowment with the Republic of France and French culture are decades old, and that visit was an opportunity for an agreement on cooperation between the French Embassy in BiH and the "Ekmečić House" Endowment.
Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Ćazim Suljević presented to the ambassador the Toudic activities of the endowment. He said that the endowment was established with the aim of preserving the memory of the Ekmečić and Morić families, who made a significant contribution to art and culture. The endowment contains more than 3,000 works of art and documents created by Ekmečići and Morići, as well as several important collections that are a gift to the endowment, such as a collection of works by painter Kristijan Kreković, and a collection of portraits of Žarko Jovanović Jagdino who lived in France and was a world champion in playing balalaika (a Russian traditional instrument) and author of the Roma anthem Opre Roma.
Ambassador Toudic expressed satisfaction that she had the opportunity to learn about the cultural ties of the Ekmečić and Morić families with French culture and expressed her readiness to cooperate.
“I am glad that I visited the "Ekmečić House" endowment and met a touch of French culture in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is my first visit to the endowment, and the next one will be on the occasion of the realization of some joint cultural projects,” said Ambassador Toudic.
