POSUŠJE, February 15 (FENA) - The initiated project "Bicycle routes through the natural and cultural heritage sites of the regions of Herzegovina and Montenegro", entails the construction of recreational paths through the Brina canyon and the area of Tribistovo near Posušje.
On the route from the 'stećak' medieval tombstones on Ričina all the way to the Tribistovo reservoir, works are underway to arrange the road and set up safety nets in the most demanding locations.
At five locations, tables and benches will be set up where future adventure seekers will be able to take a break and enjoy the view of the canyon itself and other beauties of the route that ends at the mountain lodge in Masna Luka.
All routes planned through the municipality of Posušje have been mapped and tourist signs will be placed. In addition, a panoramic telescope, a solar bench with a panel and a multimedia cycling simulator will be set up to promote the routes. The completion is scheduled for spring 2021.
The bicycle routes project in the regions of Herzegovina and Montenegro is implemented within the Cross-border Cooperation Program Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro, funded by the European Union.
The project officially started on October 1, 2019, and implementation will last 18 months.
The European Union is financing this project with the aim of strengthening and diversifying the quality of the tourism offer, as well as the development of cycling and outdoor tourism in rural areas of the cross-border regions of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project will result in the creation of new and attractive activities under the brand "Cycling Rural" which will become part of the overall tourism offer of both countries and the Adriatic hinterland.
