SARAJEVO, February 16 (FENA) - The US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina congratulated the newly elected mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić, on winning the election, as well as the Speaker of the Mostar City Council, Salem Marić.
"Congratulations to newly elected Mayor of Mostar, Dr. Mario Kordic, Speaker of the Mostar City Council, Mr. Salem Maric, and new councilors on the completion of the final election process," tweeted the US Embassy in BiH.
"After too many years, the citizens of Mostar have a new Mayor and City Council, and we hope that the new city leadership will work with the spirit of cooperation and in the interest of the citizens to address numerous challenges which Mostar faces," said the Embassy.
HDZ BiH candidate Mario Kordić was elected Mayor of Mostar on Monday by a majority vote in the City Council.
The first local elections in 12 years were held in Mostar in December last year.
