BiH CoM once again fails to appoint War Crimes Revised Strategy Supervisory Body

FENA Hana Imamović

SARAJEVO, February 18 (FENA) - For the second time, the Proposal of the Decision on the Establishment of the Supervisory Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the Revised State Strategy for the Work on War Crimes Cases has been removed from the agenda of the session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, FENA learns today.

This oversight body has an obligation to report to the Council of Ministers on war crimes prosecutions four times a year, and the main goal of the strategy is to prosecute war crimes by 2023.

The Association of Genocide Victims and Witnesses today expressed opposition to the proposal, which was at today's session of the Council of Ministers, that Milorad Kojic, who publicly denies the genocide in Srebrenica, be a member of the Supervisory Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the Revised State War Crimes Strategy.

The Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide has expressed strong opposition to the proposal that "Milorad Kojić, who publicly denies the genocide in Srebrenica, becomes a member of the Supervisory Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the Revised State Strategy for War Crimes Cases".

"We strongly oppose the naming of Milorad Kojić, director of the RS Center for Research of War, War Crimes and Search for Missing Persons, a member of the Supervisory Body for monitoring the implementation of the Revised Strategy. Someone who publicly denies the genocide in Srebrenica, publicly undermines ICTY/MICT verdicts and with whom the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts does not want to cooperate precisely because of his political commentaries and rejections of the verdicts, is a person that is not suitable for cooperation," stated the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide in an address to the public.

The Association reminds that "Milorad Kojić initiated the disclosure of the names of witnesses who, in his opinion, 'falsely testified' in war crimes cases, which put Kojić in the role of both the prosecution and the court in his attempt to intimidate witnesses and obstruct all future trials in war crimes cases".
