SARAJEVO, February 19 (FENA) - Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina Josip Grubeša held an online meeting today with a delegation of the General Secretariat of the Council of Europe (CoE) and exchanged views on further steps regarding the implementation of verdicts in the 'Sejdic-Finci' group case.
The aim of the meeting is to exchange opinions and discuss a roadmap that could be agreed for the implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights regarding the so-called groups of cases Sejdić-Finci.
On behalf of the Council of Europe, Christophe Poirel, Director General for Human Rights and the Rule of Law, Clare Ovey, Head of the Enforcement Division of the European Court of Human Rights, Nikolaos Sitaropoulous, Head of the Enforcement Division of the European Court of Human Rights and Danijela Barjaktarović, lawyer in the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights participated in the meeting.
During his address, Minister Grubeša informed the delegation about the work and activities undertaken by the Ministry of Justice of BiH in order to implement the mentioned judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
Among other things, he reminded of a number of previous urgencies and attempts to adopt the Action Plan, which were unsuccessful, and that due to the fact that the deadlines expired, the BiH Ministry of Justice prepared a Proposal of Action Plan for implementation of all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights which, after obtaining the opinions, will be sent for adoption to the Council of Ministers of BiH.
Grubeša emphasized that the amendment of the Constitution and the Election Law of BiH is a necessary precondition for the implementation of verdicts for the group of cases Sejdić-Finci, and that this non-election year is an opportunity for politicians in BiH to finally find common solutions to this issue.
