SREBRENICA March 1 (FENA) - Today, March 1, the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was marked at the Potočari-Srebrenica Memorial Center.
This event was attended by genocide survivors, representatives of the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, Srebrenica Municipality, the "My Address Srebrenica" initiative, and the Vice President of Republika Srpska entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ramiz Salkić, Deputy Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Dževad Mahmutović, as well as representatives of numerous associations and citizens who came from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. They laid flowers at the memorials and recited the Fatiha verses from the Quran, thus paying tribute to the victims of the genocide.
Ramiz Salkić, Vice President of RS, says that it is time for all of us in Bosnia and Herzegovina to start celebrating Independence Day.
“We testify that Bosnia and Herzegovina is here, that Independence Day is here, that obstructions by the authorities of this entity mean nothing to us. Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrates Independence Day and we are here to remember all the martyrs and that the sacrifice of all those who fought for Bosnia and Herzegovina is not in vain. We will continue to persevere and fight for a country of equal rights and opportunities. We expect that the authorities of this entity will stop persecuting the statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina from this entity and their lives because that is impossible,” said Salkić.
