Nožica: The Prosecutor's Office has political and not legal motives

FENA Muhamed Hadžibegić

SARAJEVO, March 10 (FENA) - Senka Nožica, defense attorney of the FBiH Finance Minister Jelka Milićević, assessed as a completely arbitrary a request of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH that the FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić and Minister Milićević be banned from performing the duties of appointed officials until the first instance verdict is rendered in the ventilators procurement trial that has begun recently.

In her address for the media after the hearing took place today in the said case in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, Nožica pointed out that such a request is usually filed together with the indictment if there is a fear of influencing witnesses.

"This Trial Chamber does not have any testimony and any evidence in favor of this, which is why it cannot verify such an arbitrary request," said Nožica.

She added that she believes that the goal of the Prosecutor's Office is to accuse these people and remove them from office, which in her opinion, are political and not legal motives.

"Since I am convinced that the court judges according to the law, and not according to politics, I believe that this request will be rejected," Nožica emphasized.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
