SARAJEVO, March 10 (FENA) - The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Edin Forto, called on the citizens to adhere to the prescribed epidemiological measures during the weekend in order to help the health system not to go into a complete collapse. Otherwise, the measures will be even more rigorous, he said today at the opening of a new coronavirus drive-in test site located at a trolleybus depot in the municipality Novi Grad Sarajevo.
Speaking about the announced protests of hospitality workers, Forto said that everyone has the right to protest, but that it is necessary for everyone to try to stop the rise in the number of newly infected over the weekend in order to avoid further tightening of measures.
"Today we have 16 deceased in the canton. The situation in the health sector is terribly serious, and it can be much worse, not because the virus is deadly, but because the health system cannot cope," said Forto.
The SC Minister of Health Haris Vranić pointed out that the situation is similar to yesterday's and that there is no drop in the number of newly infected.
He said that the newly opened drive-in testing point will make it easier for citizens to get tested and get the results, especially at a time when the number of newly infected is growing.
Speaking about the announced lockdown in the canton over the coming weekend, the minister said that the health sector would not be able to respond to the new 'influx' of patients.
"We will see if we will have a drop in the increase in the number of newly infected over the weekend. If that is the case, we will extend the lockdown for few more days," said Minister Vranić.
