SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković spoke with European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic in Brussels on Thursday.
Turković informed Lenarčić about the current situation in BiH when it comes to the fight against the pandemic, the number of infected people, the measures that are being taken, but also the delay in the delivery of vaccines through the COVAX mechanism.
She also referred to the migrant crisis in BiH, especially the situation in the Una-Sana Canton, but also to EU funding for solving this problem and the participation of IOM.
The Minister also pointed out the importance of dispersing migrants to other parts of BiH and Frontex's participation in the protection of the country's eastern border and spoke about readmission agreements.
The two officials also discussed the 14 key priorities of the European Commission, issues surrounding the Election Law, but also speeches and calls for secession that undermine the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Commissioner Lenarčić said that other countries, in addition to Bosnia and Herzegovina, also have a problem with the procurement of vaccines. He pointed out that the European Medicines Agency, in compliance with strict rules, must approve vaccines for use. He added that some companies have overestimated their production capacities, and that is why everyone is waiting for the necessary deliveries of vaccines.
When it comes to the migrant crisis, he added that the current situation in BiH is unfair, because pressure has been put on Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in addition, within BiH, one part of the country bears the burden of the crisis while others refuse to take responsibility.
He pointed out that the European Commission will help in all possible ways, but also that the institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina must develop systemic solutions, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
