SARAJEVO, March 15 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac met today in Sarajevo with Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to BiH Ji Ping and discussed enhancing the cooperation in the field of agriculture and greater foreign trade.
The Ministers of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, Boris Pašalić and Šemsudin Dedić also attended today’s meeting, at the invitation of Minister Košarac.
The interlocutors welcomed the results of the recent Summit "17 plus one", during which it was concluded that the People's Republic of China plans to import goods worth 170 billion dollars from Central and Eastern European countries in the next five years and double the import of agricultural products from this part of Europe.
Minister Košarac pointed out that in that context, there were encouraging messages and calls for the enhancement of cooperation, which the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, sent at the Summit "17 plus one". He also commended the engagement of Ambassador Ji Ping in the promotion of that event.
The focus of today's conversation was the possibility of exporting milk and dairy products, red meat and honey from BiH to the Chinese market.
“The opening of the Chinese market is a significant opportunity for our agricultural producers, who have the capacity and experience to offer their products to Chinese consumers in addition to European ones. That is why we are making maximum efforts to fulfill all the conditions so that domestic products can be found on the market of that friendly country,” said Minister Košarac.
Ministers Košarac, Pašalić and Dedić agreed to hold a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia in order to exchange experiences in cooperation with the People's Republic of China, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations announced.
