ANKARA, March 16 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik said in Ankara today after he and BiH Presidency members Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that it was a successful meeting and an indicator of the continuity of good relations between the two countries.
He mentioned that the pandemic stopped the contacts and prevented them from being more intense, but he assessed that now is the right time to continue, and the cooperation will be accelerated by the three agreements signed today.
“BiH has great expectations regarding the support for the construction of the Sarajevo-Belgrade motorway and all those who doubted in this project can now be sure that it will be implemented and it is necessary that we all make efforts to succeed in it,” Dodik underlined.
However, he is of the opinion that without the will of President Erdogan, the implementation of this project might have been stopped, and he is convinced that his initiative and support have been decisive in this.
Dodik says that Turkey and BiH have no open issues and thanked for 30,000 vaccines that Turkey, also exposed to the pandemic, donated to BiH and showed its solidarity with BiH, which failed to provide vaccines for its population through global collective procurement systems.
“In addition to these problems, it turned out that we have friends and Turkey, along with Serbia and Slovenia, is the largest donor of vaccines for BiH. Erdogan's concern for everything and everyone is the best example of how we should behave in BiH, trying to build a tolerant society,” says Dodik.
He also said that a trilateral meeting had been agreed between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Turkey, but thinks that Russia should join too, bearing in mind that this would contribute to further stabilization of relations.
