Cooperation with EUROPOL and INTERPOL is important in the fight against crime

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 17 (FENA) - The FBiH Police Administration held a working meeting today with representatives of the IPA 2019 project "Fight against Serious Crime in the Western Balkans" Antonio Luciani and Mile Panić, to present possible ways to support police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina in organized crime investigations.

The representative of the IPA 2019 Project - a residual expert in BiH, Antonio Luciani pointed out that the Project "Fight against Serious Crime in the Western Balkans" is organized in two components - police and prosecutorial.

According to the FBiH Police Administration, the Dutch CILC provides cooperation to the prosecutorial component, while the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Italy implements the component of providing support to police agencies.

Also, the participants of the meeting emphasized the importance of exchanging information between regional and international police agencies through EUROPOL and INTERPOL communication channels and presented the possibility of providing operational support in the pre-investigation phase of police officers in cases aimed at investigating crimes committed by organized criminal groups.

“One of the forms of cooperation that the IPA project would support are joint police actions as well as participation in the EMPACT project which is being implemented within EUROPOL. In that context, the establishment of the EUROPOL contact point was initiated, which is being established at the BiH Ministry of Security,” it was announced.
