HDZ BiH, SDA and SNSD express readiness to speed up BiH's path to the EU

FENA

MOSTAR, March 18 (FENA) – The working group of the HDZ BiH, SDA and SNSD delegations met today in Mostar and discussed 14 key EU priorities that BiH must meet for candidate status. They stated that six priorities have been completed and that three priorities, i.e. laws are in the procedure, and expressed readiness to implement measures and activities that will improve and accelerate the BiH's path towards European integration.

Deputy Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Vjekoslav Bevanda said in a statement to the media that they were focused on what is the consensus that exists in BiH and "the European path and all the efforts we need to make to be credible and get that candidate status."

“We were focused on fulfilling the priorities of the European Union. We noted that six of the 14 priorities have been completed. Also, we were focused on three laws, namely the Law on Amendments to the Law on Public Procurement, amendments to the Law on HJPC and the Law on Prevention of Conflicts of Interest in BiH Institutions,” said Bevanda.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA Denis Zvizdić reiterated that they confirmed the consensus when it comes to readiness to implement measures and activities that will improve and accelerate BiH's path to European integration.

He explained that the opinion of the European Commission for BiH has 14 priorities, which has an analytical report with 115 sub-priorities and numerous measures.

“Their overall implementation means the possibility of opening the first part of negotiations, and today we discussed the implementation of priorities that we believe show the credible progress of BiH for the next phase, and that is obtaining candidate status,” said Zvizdić.

Zvizdić explained that they are trying to adopt a sufficient number of measures and strategies that will 'enable us to appear credibly before the institutions of the European Commission and the European Union and request candidate status'.

“So, apart from these three laws that we are talking about today, it is worth reminding that we have implemented six, seven priorities that are within the margins of 14 priorities from the opinion of the European Commission for BiH," said Zvizdić.

Head of the SNSD caucus in the House of Representatives of the BiH PA, Snježana Novaković Bursać, said that at today's meeting they agreed on the appropriate methodology, which she believes will bring them closer to fulfilling certain tasks, sub-priorities.

SNSD is open and intends to apply a constructive approach, especially when it comes to legal solutions that will contribute to the political, economic and social environment.
