USAID provides assistance to BiH cities affected by December earthquake

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 24 (FENA) - More than a hundred families from Kozarska Dubica and Novi Grad, Kostajnica Municipality, and the Health Center in Bihać will receive assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in mitigating the effects of the earthquake that hit the area in December last year.

The municipality of Kostajnica, which suffered the most damage, will receive financial assistance, food and hygiene supplies will be distributed in Kozarska Dubica, and bedding sets will be provided for families in Novi Grad in addition to food and hygiene products.

In Bihać, the earthquake damaged the Health Center and thus made the work even more difficult, so this institution needed funds for cleaning and disinfection.

USAID assistance was provided through the PRO-Future peacebuilding project implemented by the CRS with partners in more than 70 local communities throughout BiH.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, USAID has responded to the needs of citizens through the PRO-Future project, providing food for more than 5,000 families last year, while numerous institutions and organizations received disinfectants and bedding for isolation wards, said the Catholic Relief Services.
