SARAJEVO, March 30 (FENA) - Director of the Institute of Public Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Davor Pehar said that the distribution of 15,210 doses of Pfizer vaccines from the COVAX mechanism is underway in the FBiH.
Pehar said at a press conference today that the vaccines will be distributed in accordance with the listed principles, but also based on the requests of the cantonal public health institutes.
“The reason is the fact that this vaccine requires the so-called ultra-cold chain and needs to be stored at -80 degrees. When it leaves the storage, it must be used within five days, which is why close coordination between the public health institutes is needed in order to make the most of all available doses,” Pehar pointed out.
He emphasized that 17,100 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were delivered to the FBiH through the COVAX mechanism, for which the results of analyses from the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of BiH are still awaited.
“When we receive the necessary findings and analyses, this vaccine will be distributed through the cantonal institutes in order to enable the continuation of vaccination of priority groups,” he pointed out.
He also added that there are 17,980 doses of vaccine from the Chinese manufacturer Sinovak in the warehouse in Mostar, which BiH received as a donation from Turkey.
“We are also waiting for analyses for this vaccine after we get all the necessary findings, and this vaccine will be available as well,” he said.
Pehar said that the epidemiological situation is very complex and called on all citizens to adhere to the measures prescribed by the FBiH and cantonal crisis headquarters, and said that only in this way can the spread of the coronavirus be stopped.
