SARAJEVO, March 31 (FENA) - Representatives of the competent state and entity institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a meeting in Sarajevo today to discuss the deteriorating epidemiological situation in the country and decided not to introduce a mandatory PCR test for coronavirus to enter BiH.

As the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Ankica Gudeljević told reporters after the meeting, they discussed tightening measures for the entry of foreigners into BiH but also concluded that there is no need to introduce a PCR test and restrict entry, since in that case BiH citizens cannot enter their country.

She notes that significant inspection capacities should be provided to control the movement of persons entering BiH, and at the same time the current existing measures in BiH are not respected, although it is the obligation of BiH citizens to do so, as well as those coming to BiH.

The Minister said that they also discussed the procurement of vaccines and confirmed that the next delivery of 81,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine should arrive on April 22 or 23, but noted that these delivery dates may change.

Also, 162,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine should arrive in BiH by the end of June, although it is not known whether all doses will arrive at once or will be delivered successively in BiH because Gudeljević says that they will not receive such data much earlier since everything depends on the availability of vaccine.

She also announced that vaccines ordered through the European Union mechanism, for which 13.7 million euros were paid through the signed agreement, should arrive in the second quarter of this year.

“Of that, 85 percent of the money will be used for vaccines, and the other 15 percent for accompanying medical equipment, and above all for strengthening the cold chain system and other costs that arise,” she explained.

At today's meeting, they also discussed the activation of the Coordination Body for Pandemic Issues at the level of BiH, which stopped working last year, mostly because it did not have a quorum.

The Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republika Srpska, Alen Šeranić, pointed out that they discussed several topics related to further activities, such as the procurement of vaccines and how to carry out vaccination of citizens in BiH in the future.

“We have been given certain tasks that we will realize in the coming period and I want to commend the excellent cooperation with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and the FBiH Ministry of Health. We will continue to work for the benefit of all our citizens,” he pointed out.

Head of the Department for Health and Other Services of the Brčko District, Sead Šadić, pointed out that the vaccination of health workers began in that district today.

“We have all available human and material resources, as well as equipment for the realization of the vaccination plan,” he emphasized.
